I OWN A JEEP!!!! (long)

I made the 14 hour trip and I couldnt be happier with the jeep. I was worried that it would never drive on the street, as neither of the other 2 owners were able to drive it on the road. As soo as I picked it up, I fired up the underhood welder and welded a steering stabilizer on it. that didnt help the death wobble, but when I got home, i took off the unbalenced 38.5x14.5 tsl/sx on beadlocks and balanced a set of 35 BGF's on the same rims.. death wobble is GONE. what a relief.. i was worried.
I also got the entire build up of the jeep documented.. every single upgrade has pages of explanations with pictures. there is a big binder full of write-ups and pics, all extremely organized and printed out complete with schematics for the welder, OBA, and ARB's.
the body is pretty beat up for a tj, but the inside is very nice, and the drivetrain is unbelieveable. dynatrac rverse rotation shaved hi-pinion d-60's front and rear with ARB's in both and 5.13 gears. They are both 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern the original 4.0 has 20072 miles on it. and behind that sits a new chevy NV 4500 from advanced adapters bolted to an atlas II transfer case. the driveshafts are tom woods CV shafts, complete with a SPARE rear tom woods shaft. the lift kit is a 6" RE long arm kit.. the skid pan was modified to accept the huge tranny and indexed atlas. It came with a new xd9000i warn winch, really really nice cobra CB mounted in a tuffy security box, and a massive gear box in the back with a pull out drawer. its rhino-lined, has 5 tsl/sx and 5 champinon beadlocks, currie rockcrawler bumpers front and rear, a mobi-welder, and AGR rock ram that i need to install. anyway... I'm pretty stoked, and i have built enough jeeps where i dont feel bad at all buying one thats built already.. I know what I have, and i'm able to fix whatever breaks.

Looking good. My buddy had that death wabble... man aint that scary as heck. He dealt with it for about two months and get new tires. Turns out his Baja belts decided to come apart on the inside. It seems like the TJ's just dont like vibration coming from the wheels. I was driving behind him on the freeway one time, It looked like a low rider with hydrolics bouncing up and down doing 65. Pretty Gnarley. Good thing you got it fixed

Nice, I'm jellous, i wish my tj was that built, though i think my body is about the same as yours (can't really tell from the pics). It's way too clean when you going to actually wheel it and get it covered in mud. It's wide as can be, even wider than the pumpkin and those are just your street tires, shouldn't have any trouble covering it in mud.

Congrats! I'm glad you made it home. That's one evil Jeep!
My sled came home this weekend and is already drippin' in the driveway! Now that you've had a few weeks to take delivery of that "poser" /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif, let's hookup on those brackets & calipers (please?). I'm off til Jan. 2nd, and itching to get her on the road. I washed off all the moss, so a new name is in order/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif. Wouldn't happen to have a set of seat belts would you?

jeff and ricky,
I am scheduled to go to a leadership school in DC from 9 jan till end of feb. thats a long way to drive and no time for myself in that period. thats a lot of why i tossed the bfg's on it..... I dont think i'm going to get to take this thing off road till at least march.. and its killing me.. i really wanna toss the 38's on it and pound this thing...but first i have to get it to drive to dc and back reliably (yikes)

Everytime I look at it I see how sweet a TJ can be. Then I look at my wimpy ride and depleted funds, and cry. Oh well, maybe SOME day I can be a Jeep God :) Lemme know when you guys are hitting a trail, if you haven't done so already! I'd enjoy seeing that thing wheel, and getting mine dirty. very sweet.

Finally going to the Staff Academy?!?!?! You will have plenty of time, unless you are braindead. The weekends are free and GWNF is down the road. Go to the JU or Quadratec BBS and as them guys where to go. They know a few places up there.

And oh, you lucky fawker!!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I may not like what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I've always liked that jeep. Built with a purpose. If you can afford to buy it all at once, it was a great buy. That is how Jeep should have sold them from the factory/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif.

You need to take that notebook and convert it to .html and put it back up on JeepGod's website. But when ever you do a mod, you can't slack off now. You have to keep the records up. You have a duty.

What will be after the Rock Ram, alum tub for weight savings? Or FI V8? Really, there isn't that much you could do.

For real, I just visited JU for the first time, and I think I'll stick to this forum, seems to be a bunch of jealous flamers over there.. Buying a jeep makes you the owner, correct? How is it unlike buying a stock jeep? He's just about 25 steps ahead of all us, and buying it for less than a new one costs, and with only like 20,000 miles? I think I'm the one that got ripped, haha. What fender flares are those anyway? did they come flat black, or is it sun damage?

Nice Jeep, I too went to the JU board for the first time in a long while to see what all the fuss was about, and remember why I don't go there, the CJ and Wrangler forums are to say the least "interesting".

why did you take the tires (38.5's) off the blocks? why not leave the locks on the froadn' tires and get a standard set of rims for the road tires? just curious. looks like a sweet jeep though!
