Are the sammies that are still being produced overseas the leaf sprung or the coil sprung ones. I saw some pics of a coily set-up it's looks like a simple swap for the leaf springs cause it uses the same mounting brackets. Anyone over seas ever swap a stock leaf set up for a stock coil set up or the opposite?

Now Scott that girl you know, is she fat or slim. Maybe you could drop her off at Union Station for me.

I ve just read, that the production in Spain has been stoped in 2003! This is how the last model looked like.. with leaf springs!! Only the last models from Japan manufactured around 1995-96 were coil springs equiped..

..this is a 64PS diesel with OEM servo manufactured in Spain.

it s true, mainly the 410 models (1000ccm engines), where equiped with a factory cable difflock. However the 410 and 413 models are slightly different to the Samurai, they have narrower axles.. The difflock never came again neither as option in the Samurai models - sold in Europe from 1988. I guess because of the wider axles - more load..

The difflocks main purpose was indeed for parking only! When you put on larger tires, you will brake it, or you just forget to disconnect, because the lever is not located in your view-angle (it s next to the parking brake lever) and you have no indication on the dashboard!

unfortunately there is no use of it for real off-road..

I was advised by someone that had one that the cable locker is only for parking and isn't strong enough to take any real off road abuse. I was going to buy one myself.

Why would you need a locker for parking?

It's primarily designed to work with the T/case park brake. In the event of you being parked on a steep hill for instance and one wheel is on some slippery surface the T/case brake working threw the diff could allow it to only lock one wheel making it unsafe. so by fitting a mechanical locker that you apply with the T/case brake they have effectively made it lock both wheels.

I hope that makes some sense ????
