I'm a jeep guy so this is new territory.

I'm looking to purchase one.

What year were they first offered? Any idea how much the old ones go for? It'll be a bushwacker so it doesn't need to be pretty.

Does the us military sell surplus or "decomissioned" vehicles?

Any info would be appreciated.

Hummers were first released in a civilian market version in 1992. There are some military models out there that were released in auctions a few years ago, but many states are making it tougher and tougher to title them - so if you go that route, make sure you do your homework.

A decent used Hummer/Hmmwv will cost you high twenties minimum, realistically... anything cheaper will cost you more in the long run!

If you go the military humvee route be prepared to spend some money afterwards. They beat them to death basically in the military and they don't come with any nice items (ac, padded seats, etc.). But if you don't care about that or plan to fix it up as a project just make sure the body and frame is in good condition ( not rust, etc).
