I can\'t get the spider gears out of my carrier

See the pic.... The Chiltons book says there is a bolt that holds the spider gear pin in place, but mine just had a rolled tube stamped into place. I tired to see if it turned in place, and broke the tip of my screwdriver off in it. I can see throught the whole assembly and am wondering if I can poud it out from the back side. Any though/comments on how the get the spider gears out???

Thats a roll pin. Just use a punch the same size as the pin and punch it out. Then use a smaller punch to take the screwdriver piece out.

The bolt that you metioned is for C-clip axles.

yup its a roll pin a regular punch will take it out or you can buy a roll pin punch.(they do have advantages) i wouldn't worry about the screwdriver tip. you should never reuse a roll pin. throw it away and buy a new roll pin.

do I punch it out the roll pin for the reverse side?
Where do I get a new roll pin?
Thanks for the other answer.

not sure how to answer that. are you asking if you can knock the roll pin out from the reverse side?
if so then yes.
You should be able to find a roll pin at any industrial supply store.

thanks, worked perfectly... I was just nervous about hitting it too hard and breaking/scouring the pin that holds the spider gears in the carrier.
