supposedly stronger.plus they throw in front and rear r&ps of your choice...all for 700$
I have been a lurker on sammi sites for a few years now and it seems that the sammi rear axle is really weak if you go to larger tires. want to avoide breakage before it happens.

Well untill someone tells me differently, all they are Sami axles with a diferent housing? All Zuk rear axles are the same size. LJ, SJ, Sammie, SideKick, all have the same Dia and spline count. How is a hybrid and stronger. Can someone explain???????????

Hi -

Our Hybrid rear end was built in order to resolve the breakage issue of the ring and pinion when using lower ratios of the original smaller Samurai or front Sidekick-type ring and pinions. The front Sidekick ring and pinions or lower ratio Samurai gears - when used in the rear - are subjected to about 70% of the load duty and are prone to breakage during the first year or so. I personally have broken two 5.12 sets, two 4.62 sets, and two 4.30 sets before I finally figured out that using that size gear in the rear was just not big enough to handle the strain from low geared t-cases and 31"+ tires. Since using the Sidekick rear R&P's - which requires the Hybrid housing to accommodate the larger REAR 3rd member - we have had a ZERO failure rate. It also makes for a very cost effective gear change package. It is very convenient for people to receive a front 3rd member with Sidekick front gears, a rear 3rd member with Sidekick rear gears, and a Hybrid housing - all set up for them and ready to bolt in for $649.00. It can be found under "Drivetrain" on our web page. If you purchase lockers, we will also install them for you at no extra charge.
