Has an body ever had a howling noise comming from the intake manifold, carb area? I have an 86 CJ7 258 with a stock carb. I checked for a vacuum leak but everything looks ok. It only does it when it cold out side when I pull up to a stop sign. When I give it gas it goes away. It just does it every once in a blue moon. The Jeep runs great, but that noise is driving me crazy.

I heard a noise like that once from my PU truck, turned out to be the cat. Oh well, I didn't like him anyway, especially after he broke my fan belt!

Seriously, it could be a belt slipping too. Be sure they're all tight.

I had this problem several years ago. It was one of those darn vacuum switch things on the back of the valve cover. Only happened
when it was cold out. Put the Weber on, eliminated those things, went away.
