How to identify Factory Soft Top?

423 Views 2 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  TOM85CJ7
Okay, so I just bought a Bestop Replace-a-top, and I don't think it fits. How can I determine if I have a factory soft top? The door skins are sewn on and the windows have Chrysler logos on them. Has anyone else installed a replace-a-top that can offer any advice? I will call Bestop tomorrow if necessary.

Thanks,

A factory soft top for an 85 would be mode by ACME. The door skins are sewn on, the zippers in the door are heavier than Bestop and they are a white nylon, not black. There are no Chrysler logos, the original top was made when Jeep was owned by AMC. The only thing I can think of is it is a factory replacement top from Chrysler after they bought Jeep, but I don't know if such a thing exists, never seen one. Your hardware will be two bows, the rear being a telescoping one with a spring loaded pin in it. Hope this helps

It helps. I have figured out that I don't have a factory soft top. Does anyone want to buy a new Tan Bestop replace-a-top(#51118-04) for a CJ-7 $220 includes shipping anywhere in US.

Thanks,
