Do you wave?

How many of you wave to Jeeps?

Just wondering. I'm a new Jeep owner and I get so excited when I see another Jeep to wave at. I have found that most hipsters or women (sorry, just my research) don't wave. To them, it seems, it's just a vehicle. But to the true to heart, they wave every time.

So, do you wave?

I always wave to other cool jeeps!

I always wave to other cool jeeps. Especially lifted, trail ready rigs. Cool, to me, doesn't have to be pretty. I do, however, wave to the "done up" jeeps that are domesticated. Hell! It's not the jeeps fault their owners have them corralled.

I found out about this right after I got my jeep. I was actually driving it home from the dealership and a guy in a cj5 waved at my old square headlighted jeep. Initally I didn't think much of it until I was driving back and forth to school and found I ran a strech through bedford In. I would see a older guy in a scrambler 2 times a week. He owned or worked in the station I bought fuel. At some point he got my number because I wanted to do some offroading. So one weekend I didn't go home. The old fella called mom's number I had given him to make sure I was ok because I hadn't come through.. Little insight into what I would soon find was the jeeping comuntity at that time. Everyone watched out for everyone else. Not so much anymore. I still try to do my part and wave and stop when necessary. I have found lot of folks don't want help. I spent 3 hours one day on the side of the road helping a fellow who ended up needing a electric fuel pump rigged up on his 3b. I have pulled from the pool as well. When my jeep broke in Green county last year I am guessing I had 4 people ask if I was ok and one fellow who stopped. Ex Marine who was more than willing to try to help. Then Austin got my jeep to the High Lift fatory and Arron made me ride on his trailer home:) So it comes back around.

Try something - wave at a Hummer!

Many just look at you funny, but some respond with a partial wave - just part of the wave - just one finger.

There's a guy out here that I pass every once in a while in a thrashed H2 - I always wave a friendly wave or flash my lights.
He gets madder every time I do it. He started with the one finger wave back, then added shouting to it - yesterday he even leaned out the window as much as he could and shouted and showed me his finger. I guess it really gets him going because I always smile and try to be friendly.

I wave at a guy with a lifted, very built Scout I see often too - it took him awhile to catch on, but now he waves back.

Most of the Samurai guys just don't understand.

Question - we were in Phoenix and Tucson a couple of weeks ago - very few Jeeps but lots of H2's. Is that where they are paying people to take them?

It was a joke Rich (though I should keep my day job).

Put the stick down, I ain't biting.

BTW: H2s are funny. I love to ask how often they have it off road. Some say "are you kidding?" some say they will someday, some think a gravel road constitutes off-road, and some give some BS and I just say "really?" and point to my jeep and say "thats my rig over there"; which usually reminds them of an urgent appointment they are late for.

I have yet to have someone (believably) tell me they have taken a H2 off road.

My Dad has a Range Rover, and my Sister (2005 Rubi) and I laugh so hard when he talks about it's capabilities off-road. He wouldn't go so far as take on a gravel road :)

He He - stick - or Schtik?

We had a H3 join us on a run once - I was impressed with what it was. He had 36's and a rear locker. He did OK - but not real good, had to strap him a few times on a not very difficult trail. Too low, too wide.

By the time we got out his "skid plate" - actually a thin gravel shield - was history.

But on the street I'm told they ride and drive nice - and are super quiet inside.

If I wanted a SUV I'd be more inclined toward that new ugly Toyota with the white tops. Never seen one off road except one I test drove.

They don't wave either - snobs.

I wave at everyone on the trail, sometimes with the whole hand, other times with just one finger (usually a pickup with large tires & High HP V-8 digging holes in front of the obstical). Like Rich & others, I do try to help out the disabled (even the brain dead ones).

When on the road, I wave at all the trail rigs when I'm in the Heep. Seen quite a few today on the way up to the Ducy Ershin. I also wave at them when I'm in the boat at Courtright and they are driving across the dam. They usually honk &/or wave back.

I do enjoy meeting another Bullnose on the trail or road .... and telling them " Wow that's at nice Scout you have there". That's when I get the one finger salute!

A sad note I'm moving out of the mountains. The wife has retired and we are moving back to the valley (Selma). It was a great 12 years!

Rockin On

What's with the mentality of the H2'ers?

Couple of days ago I came out of a supermarket - an H2 was parking behind me crosswise in the aisle - not a parking space at all.
He was just getting out. I could not get out of the space.
I asked him to move up a little so I could get out - Geez - the language he used! He said he'd "be right out" too.

He grabbed a shopping cart and went inside - it took him about 1/2 hour while I waited. The cops never showed - I wanted him ticketed and towed.

When he came out he again cussed me out - and I hadn't even said anything! Yes, I was in my Jeep.

He He - did you know that if you slightly loosen all 4 valve cores he'll have 4 flats a few hours later when he doesn't know what happened? If they leak at slightly different rates, he may even have to have the auto club come out so many times they'll cancel him.

Did you know part of a paper match shoved in a lock on the spare does wonders? It even works on a right hand door and tailgate too.

Of course not that I'd ever do such things - well, but --.
