some lifts dont come with shackles and its your choice if you would like to upgrade them. I was told when I got my first jeep that the stock shackles are a week link. So I switch them to the welded ones for the Mud here in South Fl. At one point I even had to use the shackle itself as an anchor point(dont recommend it) but it was my last resort but everything turned out fine. But some lifts may come with shackles depending on the manufacturer. You will have to find out depending on the lift your getting

I like keeping the stock shackles as the weak link--it's a lot easier to replace a broken shackle on the trail vs. a broken shackle mount that is welded to the frame/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif. That, and the stock shackles are more flexy and give better articulation due to their lack of a center brace.
