How can you tell what gear the transfer case is in?

With the DANA 20, when you shift down from 4H to 2H to 4L, are you supposed to "feel" anything? Mine just slides all the way through. Will it hurt to drive in 4H with the hubs unlocked? I'm having a tuff time finding what gear it's in.

Learning as I go...JEEP=Just Empty Every Pocket!

Watch out for 2L also. Get someone to check your front driveshaft. Mine is the same way. There is a big difference between High and Low and if your front shaft isn't spinning then your in 2WD. You can also remove the shifter plate from the tub and you can see your front shaft through there(My boot is rotten and no longer present). Hope that helped.

Can you fix it?
