Hot Cherokee won\'t go into overdrive

Hi Folks,
I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 litre six and
auto transmission with 130k on it. When the engine temp
gets over 180 degrees, "reading the dashboard temp gauge, it
will not shift into overdrive. Have had it to Jeep dealer once, and they flushed transmission and refilled. It worked
maybe a week after that and then got progressivley worse till not it will not shift again with warm engine. Any ideas? This is my first post.

Does it usualy seem like it shifts into over drive at around 45mph. Its acully not shifting, its the torque converter locking up and might be bad if its not locking up. Check your fluid level also.

Hi Muddy,
Well torque converter seems to lock up ok. Just took it
to local dealer and all computer diagnostics check ok as
far as outbboard sensors. Will take it to a transmission
shop tomarrow. Jeep wants $2700 to put in re manufactured
tranny. Thanks for your reply.
