Well guys the day finally came. I just went and bought the 80 cj-5 (41k original miles) that I have been ranting and raving about for the last 3 months. I love this little Jeep. So far in the 4 days that I have owned her I have put on a new water pump, changed all the hoses, broke the fan shroud, :) (sorry CjDave) and am getting ready to replace the fuel pump. Oh did I mention that 2 of the bolts broke off in the block when I was changing the pump (I love this stuff). But thankfully they left enough threads where I could still get a good ol pair of vice grips on em. I am so happy to have a Cj. Its what I grew up around and in my whole life. I have owned all together now 7 Jeeps. But I never knew how owning my own cj would make me feel. I know im in for alot of work, but I am actually looking forward to it. I was just so excited I had to let everyone know. I will be selling my 97 Tj on Friday which I hate to see go, but then again im kind of glad cause I will be rid of those nasty payments. Its nice to actually have the title in your hands. And the best part of this whole thing is I let my wife drive the Cj and she loves it. She even came in and got out a little notebook and wrote project cj-5 at the top of the page, got out a calculator, and told me to get out my catalogs. WHOOHOOO!!! She even said I could have my very own monthly Jeep allowance of $250.00 bones. Man, did I go to heaven or what. A new Jeep and my wife has this whole new attitude towards em. Before I got the Cj, she kept sayin I cant beleive you wanna get rid of your Tj and get an old piece of junk. I think the Cj has put some kind of curse on her. Anyways, im just ramblin now. You guys take it easy.
Steve

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Er.....ah....Steve...../wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif....Take CARE of that Jeepchick! Jeepchicks like her do NOT come along very often. Treat her like royalty/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif You know....upgrades DO cost money, but you'd be surprised what six months of payments add up to/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif.....even reasonably low payments......and they just keep coming/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif....whereas you only buy the upgrade one time./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Our CJ7 SNOJEEP is being SPECIALLY constructed for Vickie to drive. She wanted a Jeep SO BAD....and we almost bought one in 1996 for her.......but with the 231 transfer case up here on steep, snowy roads, you are in nowheresville....can't steer....can't keep it from switching ends../wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Then by accident we found the CJ 304 Automatic QUADRA-TRAC and it was perfect for Vickie.....no levers at all. Vickie does not like to make engineering decisions about gearing. She only wants to DRIVE Jeeps. So we are in the final stages of a huge re-work-upgrade to make this Jeep snoworthy....in a superior way....Vickie's way. I have resisted putting in extra gauge panels, complex, lever systems for the lock-up...and boy did I ever WANT to/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif I HAVE put in nice warning lamp/buzzer systems for all kinds of stuff from QT engagement to anti-theft "enable". AND....we duplicated the dimensions of our Grand Cherokee in the new Jeep interior so Vickie can hop out of the CJ and her right hand is automatically in the right spot to grab the shifter in the grand. The seats, the console, and the shifter are set identical. We used that B&M light truck shifter and partially grafted the shifter base into the front of the console. So this Jeep project is totally "Jeepchick" in origin. It has taken a lot longer and cost twenty times more than we planned, but when those catalogs come out......well...you've heard of "Retail Therapy" haven't you? Well this is "Premium" retail therapy because first the Jeep gal gets a high from ORDERING the stuff, then when it finally shows up UPS that's another big lift!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
