here\'s the plan!

As a college student working part time i can only dream of the possibilities of my jeep. It makes me so mad. But summer is here and i have picked up another job. I am going to work my butt off all summer and drive the jeep as well. When winter hits i will take it off the road for major mods with my saved up cash. Also the second job is at a metal fabrication place, that might come in handy.

I too feel your pain, as I too am a college student. I have two Jeeps, a 97 TJ Sport and a 79 CJ-5. This summer consist of making the CJ into a purely trail ready Jeep. The 97 has a 4" lift and is my daily driver. All my money is going into the CJ, everything else is just a waste of money. I put myself to just $20 for the weekends. That should do me ok.

Hell yeah, thats a plan. Jeeps are fun to drive in stock form too. Focus on reliability- wipers, defrosters, charging system ect. all working top notch. Too many of these things get ignored when the "lift springs, lockers, wheels, 35 inch tires" bug hits. Too many Jeeps out there that are border-line road worthy, but have $1,000 set of wheels and tires.

Re: here\'s the plan!

I agree with the above comments - while it would be cool to put the lift, big tires, winches, etc... on first, they are all worthless if the jeep isn't running good (or running at all).

I have a lot of plans for my fixing up my jeep, but I only have so much extra cash at a time to put into it. So, I have modified the plans to where I first make the mechanics and safety of the jeep solid, then I will come back and add the lifts and other stuff. The upside, I have a jeep that I can depend on now and I have a jeep to look forward to in a couple of years. The downside, hmmmmmm - there is none; I have a jeep to drive and enjoy now as well as later.

Thanks....

College? Those were the good days. Wait til you get a spouse; then you'll see the money go out the door! I remember when we got direct deposit at work; paycheck goes right into the bank account; wife said "look, honey you got a twenty dollar raise" /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

82 CJ, some stuff stock, some stuff not
Have you hugged your Jeep today?
