Here\'s one for Fixer

Just a few pics of your soon to be budget boost BPE's. Oh and I will prolly take pics and come up with the details to share.

Notice reckless disregard for the sway bar when these were removed.

Just an update, I don't have my torch, or chop saw so I have to wait till I can get to my dads to use his band saw to cut the 2x3 steel tube to the right size. Then will drill the mount holes and weld the brackets on and may weld the nuts to the bracket (haven't decided yet cause I gotta make sure the bolts I have are gonna fit thru the shock bushings for u) the original bolts that held the sway br in place were trashed so had to find substitutes for you. When done these will give you almost 3" exactly, so you had best have three inches OVERSTOCK ride height or you WILL bottom your shocks. As for chrome plating, sorry bud thats just not an available option from krabys back yard budget parts

but I may sand blast it and throw a coat of rustoleum on them if you'd like although that will spoil your ability to admire the perty welds when they are done

Here are a couple more pics. May change the title of this post to how to make budget boost BPE's for XJ's.

sway bar brackets ready for bpe's conversion

Basic materials for the bpe's

This one is for anybody who is a noob and dosn't know what a bar pin is, the pin with the slots on the end sticking thru the bushing in the shock, thats a bar pin, which is what we are trying to get away from. This is also what the lower front shock mount is, a bar pin.

Re: Here\'s one for Fixer

Hey Fixer, just an update was finally able to get material cut so I have them part way done. Need to drill the mounting holes and test fit them on my rig just to make sure and then should be able to send them off. Of course I have update pics

Camera I have suks so my apoligies for fuzzy pics.
This first shows 2x3 1/8" wall box tube cut to aprox 4 3/8" Dosn't need to be perfect.

Next we have the sway bar bracket nipped down on both ends to bring it to roughly the width of the boxed tube 3"
Image

Here bracket is centered to tube and welded in place

And lastly we have one end of the tube boxed for strength, you could box both ends, but trust me there is no need. I ran out of 25% 75% and only had straight argon after I welded the first bracket on so I had to weld the second bracket and the boxed ends on with tig. I prefer MIG, it's so much quicker.

Don't apologize Kraby, these are the most romantic softfocus pics of BPE's I ever saw...
