I am going to install the MSD6 box in my jeep and I wonder about the magnetic sensor wires that go to the distributor v. the white wire. I have an 82 CJ with a 258. Since I don't have points I don't use the white wire, right? That leaves me with the magnetic sensor wires. Which wires do I connect them to? I assume I have to splice into the wires coming out of the Dist. But I am not sure which ones.

Also, where is a common/good place to mount the box. My air conditioning hoses block off most of the inner fender well. I could put it on top of the fender (still in the hood), or it will fit on the down side of the fender between the jack and the outer body part of the fender. Any other suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

I mounted mine underneath the battery tray (making it very difficult to rip-off).

MSD makes a magnetic hookup (p/n 8860) to go directly to the Dist. wires. I fabricated one myself. No matter what you do, remember to ground the Dist. black wire to the frame, since their magnetic harness does not have a separate ground.

I'm using the white wire as a theft deterrent (toggle switch behind my dash). I still can't get the d**n Tach to work, though...

You can get in touch with me if you need to. I just did this a few weeks ago - best upgrade/mod for the money!

I'm interested in how you are using the white wire for anti theft. Does your toggle switch connect the white wire to ground when armed?
