I've posted this question on three other boards and showed it to three different mechanics, no help! I changed a leaking o-ring on my '72 Commando's modulator. While lying under the rig with transmission fluid running down my arm, a spring fell out. No one knows how this spring goes back in! My manuals are no help. It is a funky looking piece of spring steel that somehow goes inside the fitting the modulator plugs into. Can anybody help?

the ones i've come across just set in the end of the modulator, if you look in the end you see how it sets in there. then just push the mod. back in. hope this helps

I'm assuming you mean the end that is sort of squared off. It hooks in the modulator and then the whole thing gets pushed in? This is what I came up with after studying the wear pattern on the spring. I couldn't see any other way it would fit better. Thanks!
