In reply to:

What kind of axle is this (AMC 20, Dana 44, ect)

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, So it's still a Dana 44 no matter who you ask...
Do a search and figure out if you want to work on it yourself or have someone fix it for you.

A simple search for the word "pinion" and the past 3 months will turn up lots of threads and most every one has some worthy reading. Yes it's alot of information to sort through but you will find links to several sites that have great information.

Axles are not that had to work on but if you don't have some basic skills and tools it's better to have it done for you.

Or you can just ask the same question again to see if there is a different answer you like better

Good Luck

It is definately a DANA 44. I saw your other post with the damaged incurred to it.
Your best bet , if the ring, pinion and bearings are ok. Is to get a new cross shaft and something like a lock right Locker. It will cost you about $250 in parts, you can install yourself in a couple of hours.
