I would like your opinions, if possible, I am 50 yrs old, and have a small farm, and would like a 4 wheel atv just to ride around the farm. I do have some swampy areas, and would like to know your opinions on, is a 4x4 really necessary, or will a 2x4 do some one like myself and my wife just as well? As you can tell, I am pretty "green" on these atv's, but would appreciate any help, and information any of you would like to share. also any models that you would recommend, along with makers, and any you would suggest I stay away from Thanks a BUNCH for all your help......THANKS, and "RIDE-ON"

What do you plan on doing with it? Work or play, or a combination of the two. Let us know and we could help you out better.

It all depends,is price a factor? if not,get a 4x4 cause if you have a farm it would be handy, also a winch would be handy as well.Beleieve me,once you get one,you will find more uses for it than you ever imagined.towing, mowing, all sorts of add on acceseries for spraying crops, carts for hauling, snow plows/blowers,on and on..these things can do just about any task you can think of,I know around here farmers have 2 prize possesions, their diesel tractor and their ATV. With thosse 2 you can handle anything.

The best deal in ATVing today is the Polaris Explorer
250 4X4. They are selling for around $4000, and are a
bargain compared to some of the other prices I've seen.
I'm an ex-Honda rider and I'd recommend a Polaris to
anybody, especially a new rider, and his wife. No shifting
gears, Hi-Lo range, can handle chores, what more can you
ask for in an entry level ATV?

for a chore machine I would absolutly recommend a polaris. 4x4 is very handy but not absolutly a must. the automatic works great on the farm and hi/lo range is invaluable. If your gonna mend fence and such get a winch. Ask any rancher which is more handy his tractor or his atv and most will tell you the atv.
shut up and ride
