I just purchased a 1978 Jeep CJ7 with a blown motor and a rotted body. I found a New steel body that will work great. My questions is
can I put a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee motor in this and use the current 3 speed tranny in the jeep. What about wiring.
Can anyone tell me what type trans., axles, gears, etc. are in this thing. It has a inline blown six cylinder and 3 speed transmission on the floor.
It has Renegade on the side of the fender. I am just beginning to learn about jeeps. I never worked on them but
I am ready to learn.

Please Help

Chad, if the CJ is stock, the 3sp tranny is a T150. It has narrow track axles, Dana 30 front and AMC 20 in the rear. There were 5 different
gear ratios available, from 2.73:1 to 4.10:1, all of them with or without Trac-Lok. If the motor from the 93 Grand Cherokee is the 4.0L six
I believe it has the crank position sensor on the bellhousing so you'll need that. The T150 really wasn't that good a tranny, so you may want
to also use the tranny from the Cherokee. Advance Adapters should be able to help with any adapters you need.
