headers

I was looking in the search menu for headers on a 67 v6 and found a picture of a set that you had to trim the front body mounts for. Does anyone know if this has to be done with advanced adapter headers? The picture looked like it really weakened the front mount.

Hmm...I just put a set of the AA headers on the 231 in my Jeepster. Had to notch the body mounts. Figured that was because I'd changed the trans/crossmember. Maybe they sent me the wrong ones...the part # on the box was correct /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It depends on the quality of the chrome plating. No doubt it will discolor to the rainbow-like hue from the heat...plus, the cheaper it is, the easier it will chip. I too am thinking about getting the AA headers for my 67 conv. I've read on here that they give off a whole lotta heat. I would consider ordering the non-plated headers, then have them coated with a ceramic-type coating, ie. Jet Hot or the like. I've heard lots of good things about the Jet-Hot coatings, and they offer a lot of different colors and temp-ranges. The coatings help cut down on the heat that they give off, plus it would be alot more durable than just a spray-on hi-temp paint.

I'm building a heat shield between the firewall and the headers to deal with the heat.

I'm a dealer for AA, but I think any $ I could save you would be eaten up by shipping costs.

I'm making mine from the fold by the driver's feet down around to the fold where the floor pan starts, and then back to the body mount. A second one form the front body mount to the back. Better overkill than not enough...
