What is the difference b/w an 83 and an 87 258 that will make headers incompatible from the CJ? Also, what is a good, non-emissions 2bbl that will fit the YJ manifold? And NOT the $700 Weber that I always hear about!

Dude, the weber's not $700, more like $350 if you can install it yourself. Your other options for the carb are a pre-computer carter 2 bl., a motorcraft something or other, a holley 2100-series, or something like that... There are a few options. I don't know which ones will mount DIRECTLY on. I still say if you're looking to improve on what you've got, a NEW weber is the way to go. If you want to chase used parts from a junkyard, and play with linkages, hoping it will run better in the end, great, but my expereince has shown that is simply spending a lot of time to roll the dice on something that is usually no better that what you've got.

Wrangler, 87-90 with 258 have a passenger side exhaust system, due to the NP231 drivers side drop transfer case. CJs have a Dana300 passenger drop, so the exhaust is routed along the drivers side. This would make the output of the header, and the pipes that come with it, different.

Oh, but the Weber is $700 Canadian. I live in B.C. The way im routing my exhaust is not going to be stock. I want to have it come straight out of the header, add a glasspack, and exit it out the drivers side. I'm not going to run it under the tranny. I also have a 3" Black Diamond body lift so there is alot more room. So in this case would a CJ header work? A guy at the local auto parts store thinks the mounting bolts are different.
