I am trying to figure out the electrical schematic for the 83-86 CJ in the haynes manual. What is the meaning/significance of this symbol

---> >------

Is this just to represent a connector or what???

There are also a bunch of labels like c156 near these symbols, not sure if there is a c156, but what do these mean?

Also is there another electrical schematic available somewhere?

Thanks

The symbol in question is for a connection. The nomenclature usally refers to the connector number. There can be multiple connections within a connector, as example the fuse box... I just checked my All Data CDROM, and it's schematic is not much better. I'd suspect the schematic in the Service Manual would be the best you could get.

C - followed by a number refers to a specific connector identified in the factory manual. The factory manual shows the details of the connector in a seperate diagram - colors of wires and shape of connector. The designation 16r, for example, menas a 16 guage red wire. A letter under a line identifies whether the wire is to the engine harness, computer harness etc. Sometimes there will also be a letter above the connector symbol. That letter describes where the wire goes in the connector. for example, C - 100 designates the connector block on the engine firewall where the wires pass through to the engine compartment. Above the C - 100 desgination for a particular wire, you will find a location such as AX. This indicates where in that connector the wire actually goes. I think this detail is not found in the Haynes manual but is is in the factory manual.
