Can anyone provide proof or documentation of any land that has recently(2 or 3 years) been closed by a government organization to off hwy use? Preferably in the southwest.

Thanks...

There is a place in S. Utah (near Kanab) called Coral Pink Sandunes (red rock = red sand). There is supposedly a small beetle that is only found there - nowhere else. No one is sure what it's range/habitat/location/numbers are, but the ECO's have most of the place locked up and are trying to get it all closed. The biggest group down here is called the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA). A bunch of Sierra Club wannabees. Just to give you an idea about how hypocritical these guys are, their office is 300 miles away in Salt Lake City!!!! They don't even live around here! It seems their main goal is to close off ALL of southern Utah to ANY intelligent life forms (except, of course, themselves).

Many roads in the recently created Death Valley National Park, and lots of parts of the East Mojave National Preserve have been designated wilderness where numerous long-existing roads have been closed to vehicle traffic. Here is Arizona the same is emminent on the Arizona Strip if the Clinton administration has it's way, against significant local protest. John

Silly Mountain Road, Salt River near blue Point bridge, San Tans, and These are just a few that come to mind in the Phoenix area. Do you doubt that the government is killing our sport? This is a real problem that needs to be addressed NOW! Go to the land use forum if you doubt me. If you need proof I can draw you a map and the fences and signs are self explanitory./wwwthreads_images/icons/mad.gif
