Hand trottle

·Alot of rock crawler guys use a bicycle brake lever and attach it to the gear shifter so they can keep there foot on the brake and clutch at the same time. Im not sure how exacly where the link it up with the throttle but with a litle thinking you could do it.

There's a ton of ways. I recommend searching pirate4x4.com and coloradok5.com.
The ways I know of to do it:
tractor hand throttle that connects to the gas pedal (or throttle body using a cable like a TV cable is)
bicycle lever hand throttle hooked to gas pedal (or throttle body using a cable like a TV cable is)
cruise control servo if the vehicle has cruise control
blah blah blah there are tons of ways of doing it. I don't think many people have thought about doing it the last way other than me. For a TBI vehicle you could also use the idle air control valve.

DAMMIT WRATH!!!!
We Have NEVER once agreed on ANYTHING and out of the blue you come up with the idea of increasing throttle manually with the iac purdy darn good .... would take some thinking but one toggle (spst)for auto manual and one (dpdt springload) for bump up/bumpdown should work quite well although would prob throw some trouble codes

rheostat? ..... I don't think that would work as the iac has an electric motor and a rheostat would only control how fast it opened and closed but no how far .... at least we're back to arguing

So uh, are you capable of flipping a switch on and off in the 1ms range? IAC valve is a glorified stepper motor...
Now if you wanted it all the way open or all the way closed then yes, you could use a single switch... but you'd need a dual pole dual throw switch and a rheostat. Technically, you'd need a single throw dual pole also so you could disconnect the computer from the IAC when you want to control it.
No matter what, it can be done. I still think I'd end up using the cruise control servo.

Dude I don't even know how long 1 ms is except that it's not very long .... umm I'm thinking that since I timed my iac from closed to open at around 1 second that if a person did a quick tap they could probably split that up into at least 8 or ten steps but I suppose that a rheostat could help by adjusting the "sensitivity" of the switch ... a dpst switch (with 6 contacts) could disconect the comp and enable the manual setting very well .....or is that not called a dpst?....... Personally I'd use a hand throttle

Yeah, I read what I said. It did sound like I didn't read what you said. I was trying to hint that you need a rheostat to make the stepper motor turn slow but I failed.
SPST = 2 contacts
SPDT = 3 contacts (aka three way switch in a house)
DPST = 4 contacts
DPDT = 6 contacts

a resistor would work too but the reo would be easier ..... if needed ....... bout the ww hatr thing ..... twas only a joke and was soon to be over anyway, but, yeah oops didn't mean to let it out quite yet. I supose that I might as well do so now to the rest.
