So in the interum of waiting for parts and steel to come in I called one of our illustreuos venders and asked, that with there extensive R/D if they have ever come up with or know the where abouts of the metic spline standards its kind of like a book that would have all dimensions, pitch, radius, and degrees. I told them I was working on a project to maybee bring another product to the market. Responce QUOTE
oh That is realy nice I am sure it is covered in a manual somewhere which I have no way of knowing were to find (pause) oh and by the way I am in the middle of turning a ford ranger into a hover craft (smurk) and I am full of [bleep] too... Sorry, but that I can not help you with. And He hung up...
Was i wrong in wanting to reach throught the telephone and rip his heart out for being a smart A$$..
Ther was not even a tone in this mans voice that I may be a potential customer from the get go. I can guarantee there will be nothing purchaced from this vender EVER.. I will not bash the vender as I guess I have turned into one myself of sorts but the attitude was just flaygrent(sp)

If he treats you like that how do you think he treats his customers ? I cant imagine that a fellow machinist/vendor wouldnt want to help you out with a non competetive item . Now if it is something he makes I could see him saying that he isnt comfortable telling you something that could harm the future sale of his products . But irregardless being a smartass wont help him in the long run .

Scott, just to clarify - did this vendor know he was talking to you personally or did he answer the phone and not give the caller (you) a chance to identify himself before going into his tirade?

We run a specialty business here in my region where we only have three competitors who do the same kind of work as us. We all get along very well and help each other out whenever we can wether it be sharing information or lending our technicians when one of us is busier than the other.

There is such a thing as friendly competition.

First off , that is way less than a professional attitude from any vendor , and there is no excuse for it . Second , Ski rules with that info . I guess I need to get a handbook and start reading , I spend too much time looking for info like that .

I deal with vendors all of the time. I work on GSE (Ground Support Equipment) at the airport. It is the oddest, oldest and most specialized equipment around, so when they ask me what I'm working on, I just kinda chuckle. Some of the stuff, only one has been built, and by about 40 manufactures. Still, the vendors are usually most understanding and very helpful. Choking the one you dealt with would be very understandable...can I help?

[/ QUOTE ] Man are you dating yourself.

Makes me feel old knowing that I even recognize what that means.

Yeah c'mon Rockrat, how about PM those of us who are curious and let us know who we shouldn't bother dealing with.

Yeah sounds good to me. If you do send PM's send me one. It is my personal belief that people should be held accountable for their actions. (On a grander scale this is the root of a lot of problems we have as a society today, but we won't go there) If someone (individual/vendor) screws you I want to know about it. I feel if we as a group boycoted this type of behavior one or twice it would stop. Hit em where it hurts in the walet! On the other hand I like to see people posting about good experiences also. Keep us all on the same page and together we have the ability to make things change. $hit that was almost political, I better stop.
