Hi all,

That whole "TeamRush" debacle contained a couple of interesting posts in which JEEPN and a couple others quoted their grandfather's pearls of wisdom. Anyone else got a good one to share?

My grandpa always used to say, "Use your smarts and give your dumb a rest."

My grandfather used to talk to himself on occasion, and if it was brought to his attention that he was talking to himself he would
reply, "I just needed someone intelligent to talk to!"

My hillbilly grandpa used to say,
"It's nice to be important, But more important to be nice."
Looks like I didn't learn that one very well either...

One great memory I have of my Tennessee Grandpa is when we would visit,he would always take us down to the river to go catfishing. He would say "Don't pick up any sticks". Why, you ask? Well there are cottonmouths around there and he didn't want his "Yankee" grandkids picking up a snake by mistake. Still, he always brought along his rifle in case we couldn't resist trying!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif He also made sure we knew how to properly pick up a catfish to avoid being "finned"(but that is another story)/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I hope his intentions were to shoot theSNAKE instead of us. /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

How about:

"Use your head for something besides a hat rack."

or "Two heads are better than one even if one of them is a Knothead"

I never was sure which one of us he was referring to. I could guess, tho.

How about this one:

"Son, God gave you two ends to use in this life: one to think with, the other to sit on. Your success in life will depend on which one you use the most. Heads you win, tails you lose."

And the one that confuses the heck out of me to this day:

"Things work out best for those who work things out the best they can with the way things work out."

When I was around 10 years old and I was hanging out with the kid next door and whenever we would get into trouble his Ma would threaten to cut our water off.
Never knew what that meant and never hung around to find out.

My granpa used to say "Scotty get down off that damn _____ before you break your ass."

BuT I think my Dad's wisdom is classic on women: "They are all crazy, you just need to find one that is the LEAST crazy"

He is still looking though, his 3rd wife is too crazy in my opinion!

My Dad was a sergeant in the army in WWII. I'm not sure it was his favorite saying, but I heard him say this a lot:

"You make my ass tired."

And from my own dad.....

"Johnny, if your going to say something, think about three times and then don't say it."

If I would only follow that..............
