Closed the deal on a 1998 cherokee sport today. I am not sure if i want to run 32"s or 33"s but what is a good quality lift for cherokees? I want something that retains good steering and doesn't have large changes in caster. thanks

HA!!! 32's or 33's without a caster change is not going to happen. Anyway congrats on the new Jeep. A good lift would be RE, tried and True. I am half RE on mine and love it. Rusty's is good as well. If you want a turn key solution and have $2500 get the Shyjacker 6 or 8" and have a field day. You will also need an SYE if you go over 3" due to the 97+ style (gay) slip yoke. Let us know if you have any more questions man.

have fun,

Todd

Well, If i use the clayton long arms and piece the rest together i can get 6" and a nice kit for about $1600. But thats only 300 shy of the rockready. Or the RE 5.5 for $1400. I think I'll use the 33 10.50 BFGs So it should fit a tad easier. How will i use my jeep? Weekend trails and fishing but often much highway. Whats a good gear for 33"s 4.10s?

Alright, first get a SYE either a rubicon express kit or a tom woods SYE and cv shaft. Then I'd go with either rubicon express 4.5" lift. then buy bushwacker fender flares and cut to fit. NOw you can run 32's and 33's without buying the expensive lifts and you also keep articulation. Don't think you will have to regear with 32's but someone else can verify. don't know about new shocks someone else can verify that as well. SO basicaly if you know your going up get a SYE, and if you know your going to run large tires trim and add new flares because you will eventually and that can get you a base to start from. Say you wanted to take the money get a Sye, flares, and now you are down to the lift. Don't have the funds to regear just yet so you buy a add a leaf rear and a spacer front to give around 2" of hieght. With the mods you can now easily run a 31 or even squeeze a 32 if desired, I'd stay with a 31.

If you still want good on-road ride and handling stay under 4.5" of lift, 32"s and a SYE, get an SYE no matter what you do, saves you from doing rear seals all the time like me...I would have to say go with an RE kit, almost everyonme here will tell you that, I should have but money was tight and I wanted to lift, so I got Rusty's cheap 3" lift and am happy with it but didnt get a full 3"...Now I need to ask everyone a ?...I have a chance to get front coils, shocks, control arm drop brakets and track bar brackets off a Trailmaster 4" kit...Is it worth it??? Its free, all I have to do is put my 3" under this other xj as a swap....thanks and good luck with your new obsession(sp?)....andy
