I called the local Buick dealer to ask whether they had the timing chain tensioner I need for my 4.1 Buick V6. The parts man kindly informed me that I must mean a Cadillac 4.1 since Buick never made a V6 in that size.
I explained that they did, but he insisted there's no such thing (he is, after all, the Buick parts expert).
I guess I should know better and just ask for 3.8 parts.

Yeah, well.......
I've been wondering about this 4.1 thang. I'd never heard of such a thing before I found this board. I'm guessing it's a V6 if you're talking about parts for a 3.8? Where would I find such a critter?

If I remember right the 4.1 was a one or two year shot, it was used in cad's and riv's 81-82. it had a aluminum 4 bbl intake sesamed cyl bores like a 400 sb Chev so had heating problems, used a roll radius crank (same crank as turbos)
Was a good motor but not for size of car they put it in.

I wanted one for my first jeepster(69 halfcab) when they were just starting to come into wrecking yard back in 86.

One of the engines I got when I bought my Jeepster was an 82 252 ci. Mine has a cast iron intake and had a Q-jet. I plan on refreshing it and sticking it back in the Jeepster.

4.1L Buick V-6's were in production from '80-'84 in various Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and Cadillacs. Here's a link with the list:

All Buick 252ci/4.1L V-6's came with 4bbl single-plane aluminum intake, Quadrajet carb and turbo crankshaft.
