GMC All Wheel Drive!!!!!

I looked at a 89 GMC suburban it had a badge on the left rear barn door that read All Wheel Drive is this a fancy GMC term for 4x4 or could it have possi front and rear?? by the way it was a 3/4 ton..

I think that it is just telling you that it's four wheel drive. Don't hold me to that though. I find it hard to beleive that it would be posi front and rear, but you never know, maybe it is.

I'd bet the farm that it means it has a 203 in it. Let me guess, the front axle doesn't have lockout hubs on it does it? All Wheel Drive = Four Wheel Drive on the street. I'm 99% sure that GM never offered a front l/s or locker. Sorry to dash your hopes.

GM didn't offer the 203 in 89. If it has a 203 somebody put it in after it was bought.

I bet that All wheel drive emblem came off an old IHC Scout.

Thank's for the reply's The guy that has the suburban also owns a couple of scouts BTW it did have manual hub's what is a 203?? I'm a newbie to the chevy sector...

NP203 is a fulltime 4x4 transfer cse used in the 70's
