We are currently running a GM 229 (sleeved&destroked) V6 in a Fuel F class Bonneville Roadster land speed racer. We have always had trouble with cylinders 2 & 4 firing and heating. The exhaust pipes only show 350 degrees, the others show 850 or better. I have always been suspicious of the timing and the best discussion of the two engines and problems has been on this forum. My question: would the wrong distributor cause the 2&4 cylinders to run cold? Somewhere I read that could possibly create a 35 degree delay in the ignition, and that would account for the cold cylinders. The engine also struggles from lack of power. If the wrong distributor is installed, or even indexed wrong would that only affect two cylinders. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
