Does anyone have a truck with the Duramax yet and how do you like it?

well.. i think he missunderstood the question....... the duramax is the new diesel.... so if you have it, then yha... if you used some other powerplant in the truck, then yes, you would void the warremty.. lol... that and you'd just be stupid! the duramax is THE diesel to beat in the truck market right now....

I have driven the Duramax at my dealer. It was VERY strong and relatively quiet and they say gets 20mpg. Lots quieter than the Cummins and Powerstroke...I mean lots. I have the 8.1L with the Allison and it is so SWEET!!! I could make those skinny Firestones smoke off the line so I got rid of them for some BFG's. The tranny is smooth and you don't really feel hard shifts at WOT. Pics are too large to post, so if you want pics email me privately. Unfortunetly dealers are not making it easy to purchase. The local dealers that have them are asking sticker!!! I bought my truck for $1000 over invoice or about $3400 off sticker. Next year I will get the diesel once they become readily available and cheaper.

i've been dying to get to the dealer to go for a test drive. my dad is a solid cummins man (and he's lured my into it too) i must admit, i love that diesel truck...but i'm still a big chevy girl and i want to see who's diesel i'll like better. from all the numbers and talk, i'll like the duramax. i just need to go hop in one to get solid evidence.

love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
quiet enough that it sounds like a gas eng with a solid cam....
and yes the 20 mpg mark isnt hard to hit... the best part is when its loaded to the max , your pulling a mountan pass, flying by all the cummings, and powerstrokes, while still geting over 15 mpg!!!!
try that with a bbc!!! even the new vortec

No matter what, it's still a V8 Diesel! Then you throw a set of alum. heads on it too? I just don't know, doesn't sound to good to me. I think I'll stick with the Cummins. We will see though, I hope the Duramax is all it is said to be. We'll find out when we head though the W.V. Turnpike, if the Duramax can hang with our Cummins (PowerJokes sure can't). I do like the Allison tranny though, atleast at this point and time. In any event, it's still all very new. Looking forward to hearing more about them and seeing them on the highway, for the true test! Thanks

Got one this last Saturday. It is a GMC regular cab 2500HD, Duramax/Allison. I've only got about 500 miles on it now, but impression so far is this is ONE AWESOME TRUCK! The first time I got it up to 70 on the highway, and set the cruise, it kinda sent a chill down my spine. I only love it more every time I get in and start it up. I may be a little overboard, since I traded in my 1/2 ton '88 4X4 with a 350 - this is my first diesel experience. The ride on this 9200 GVWR truck is actually better than the 1/2 ton I traded, IMO. Currently lookin for something that weighs 15,000 lb to tow around. In fact, I'm going to go get in it right now, and drive home from work, and guess what...... I'm exited!

Yeah I read alot of info about Izuzu making diesel too but what Iwas most impressed at was they have made engines for Ocean Oil Tankers that put out 65,000 HP (thats right I said 65,000 HP!!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif) I can't even imagine how big that is.

I haven't driven one yet, but you really can't beat an Isuzu diesel. International, Cummins, Detroit, Caterpiller, add up their productions of diesel engines, and they don'e even come close to that of Isuzu, the #1 diesel manufacturer in the world. And GM owns 49% of the company!

kill something everyday, no matter how small, just to remain proficient.
