Whats the best way to get some action back here? This was the ZUK bible resource at one time. Your thoughts?

Two cents worth

Just some thoughts after checking this site for a number of years. Being older than most of the members of this fine group I am lacking some what in computer skills. I and a number of other check ins would ask a question and have been told to go do a search and more or less stop asking dumb questions. For some dumb reason in the last 2 years I have acquired 6 of these damn Zukes in various states of repairs. Have at the present time 3 of them ready for the road and soon as the weather breaks here will finish the 4th.

With out information gleaned from this site I am sure I would have ****caned these projects long ago. Example( Who could have guessed the valve timing is done using # 4 at TDC) Some of your members have got to under stand that the new comer more than likely is just starting out and after seeing some of the replies is some what afraid to ask a question.
For what it's worth this is my two cents worth.

why is it dead???

One of the reasons that this site has gone dead are the other regional sites that have popped up since I first dropped by back in, was it 2002?

Then, there were a lot of folks who dropped out for better or worse.

I started a site to help folks easily find stuff on the internet called Ack's FAQ. All of searchable references to this site at the FAQ are to various web page articles on fabbing and maintenance. This forum just isn't the same anymore...

I do stop by here every once in a while...

The reason I quit coming here very often was the crowd changed. Instead of real 4 wheelers it became a forum for kids to spout off what they didn't know.

They'd ask a question for help, then insult the answers.

Then other fools would chime in with totally stupid solutions.

And the flaming - it became like the pirate board - idiots!

Plus the wording and spelling showed it was full of kids.

About the only thing folks did was buy bolt-on stuff - very little creativity.

It was so bad I lost interest in building another Tracker.

I'm not on here as much as I used to be, but I still check it out about once a week or so.

This defiantly was the #1 board to be on at one time. I can't tell you how many times I would meet someone at an event, and they would introduce themselves by their ORC handle...lol

There are defiantly a lot of more local forums out there now. But this will always be the #1, grand-daddy of them all!

Exactly...this is where I started out with my stocker...I would have never modifiied it had I not found this place.

Something changed here after I had been here awhile...I can't put a finger on it, but it did.

I don't think I've been here in over a year. EDIT: I just looked, it was Nov.

I even changed my user name on all the other boards...TatorZuk is what I go by now.

I like the new setup...maybe I'll be back more often.

i used to be on this site all the time. i bought and sold so much suzuki stuff using this site it was crazy. the best part was i never had a transaction problem and most everyone was trustworthy (not everyone though..remember "suzukigoot"?).

i quit comming to this site when i was going through a divorce and didn't touch a suzuki for about a year.. well except to sell a few cheaply. when i returned i noticed this place was absolutely dead. not sure why it died out but it USED to be the main suzuki bbs for good tech and buildups. i still look in once every couple weeks.

I used to come here often - at least every night. It slowly changed from home-built rigs to bolt on store bought stuff.
Plus the crowd here, it grew really young - just kids - kids that can't spell, can't write, don't know anything but replace replace replace - not even close to the right things. College and high school kids - no wonder the country is in trouble.

And it got more like the pirates - constant insults.

Then of course - changing the boards didn't help either.

Get things back to reality and it can again be successful.

Did this finally post...

I have been on these boards a long time. I have received plenty of help from repairing a head gasket to installing larger tires. I have kept my Zuk alive with all the help off this board. I tried to sign on with my old screen name hedo and would not accept my password. I then tried to get a new password e-mailed to me but it did not like the e-mail address I have been using on here for years. I e-mailed the administrators 3 times about this a problem and they did not respond as of yet and its been over 2 weeeks. I had to make up another name just to get on. I send a 4th e-mail and stated if you going to run a board run it right or shut it down. Then I received a e-mail the next day. You guys should not wonder why there's a not a lots of things happing around here. I just wonder how many others have the same problems.

Hello Jim. I have not been here since aug 2005! Pretty much the last time i saw you, since Allen left for Iraq at the send off at Glenn and Sue's. Jeez you must be getting really really close to being a grandfather;) by now. Sad how time flys. I am getting ready to pull the old sammi's out of a 3 year slumber and do some updates. Of course i came back to this place, not because i want to search and look up already hashed out tech answers, but to see who is still wheeling, and are there any events going on like zukin2k or if you can wheel at all locally.
Its great to see that people like you are still here, and i hope Heidi and I can at some point get together with you and your family some time this summer... My regards. Max

Hey Max, GREAT to hear that you and Heidi are doing great. We are doing OK here too. Not a grandfather yet wiseguy!!! Maybe we should get a summer run together this year instead of the Sept zookin stuff. Danielle is a freshman at Quinnapiac so it isn't easy for her in Sept but during the summer would be great. Very happy to hear you are going to take the Zukes out of mothballs. We are planning to go up to Canada to see Danny and Ozzie in early July for their run. We are still trying to round up a group to head up if you are interested. If you need questions answered head over to the Zuwharrie.com BBS. Very active. Talk soon.Give Heidi our best. Jim

If it wasnt for this site my zuk would still be on those little 29s. Hell this site helped me get those 29s from maine to tn with no shipping charges.

But to be honest, the site lost the "old hands" and the "family" type atmosphere seemed to leave. Ive tried zuwharrie but it reminds me to much of pirate, i hate having to weed thru bogus info to find the good stuff. Ive pretty much made zukikrawlers my new "home". Super nice people and very helpful. It reminds me the most of the way this site once was. And thats why i hang out on it. Hell i miss dannyL bitchin about how people reply to his posts and how people cant spell.

I jus checked, i joined this site 5 days before my 19th birthday. I literally grew up on this board.

Hope to see yall over on zukikrawlers.

SO Zukinut THAT'S where ya been hiding from me!

Max, you and Heidi are more than welcome to make the pilgrimage up here to join us at ZukTrails 2007

It still boggles peoples minds when I tell em a couple lent me their trucks to off-road at Zookin! I guess that's what made this board so great. Great people, great friends, and great adventures.

Ok then there's the story about your dog!

Come NE people come and wheel with us!

People are creatures of habit, so when things happen on/to a board, things that start to bug you like a loud squeak in your vehicle that only happens on the freeway, you tolerate it for awhile then move on

For me it started with the fricken popups, especially the full-page Nissan ones.

Then it was the zillion board software changes, at one point I found I always had to re-log in anytime I switched browser windows. Sure it was a cookie issue of some sort, but it only happened on this board. Off-Road personnel never answered my emails.

Then the spelling issues with some uneducated folks have made it difficult to search for information before asking a well thought out question. How sad it is that some cannot spell Samurai, or Suzuki, or Axle, or Brake, since this is the Suzuki Forum and it’s spelled out on the forum page we look at. Even the moderator brags about his ignorance and his third grade education. Any need to mention the Reply to Thread page has a built in spell checker.

Many newcomers didn’t bother to search; they just asked the same lame brain-dead questions. Some were so stupid they were beyond funny, just sad. This also got old.

I see the last time I checked in here was December 21, 2006.

So I’m not here any longer like so many others. And you might think good riddance to me, or we don't need you, or maybe I have a bad attitude.

I bet if everyone on this board left and no new posts were started, no one would be looking at the advertisements, nothing would change, management would not notice.

This board, like other ghost towns, is dead; it just doesn’t know it yet.
