I have a lock-rite in the rear of my F-150--works great off-road, and with the long wheelbase, it isn't too much of a problem in the winter (even with a stick) but I was wondering if anyone had tried the new gearless locker. It is supposed to have fewer of the annoying habits that the lockrite has (noises, bangs, etc.) I'm getting one of these for my CJ5, and I want it to behave when I drive it on the street (with a manual tranny). I don't want to have another series on the merits of the lockrite, but rather a post on the gearless locker...or maybe a comparison.

Measure once, cut twice...or is that the other way around?

The guys at National Drivetrain just told me that there is a recall on the gearless lockers...they've been problematic I guess. So I guess I'll go with the lockright...
