I have a 91 YJ with the factory 15 gallon gas tank. I am swapping out the Fuel injected motor and putting in a motor with a carb. So, I am no longer going to need my fuel pump in my tank any more.
MY question is.... Will a CJ Fuel pick up work with my tank. Along with this motor swap I am doing a CJ dash conversion, so it would be cool to be able to use the gas guage in the speedo. Or I might use an aftermarket fuel guage... I have had 3 jeeps in my short lived Jeep life, and none of them have had working fuel guages, so this one that I am building is going to have one that works.
Thanks for any help.

Not sure about the CJ sending unit fitting, but you can do a side by side with them to see if the reach and seal surface match. I know the 87-88 Wrangler sending unit will drop right in the 91 tank but not sure if it will work with a CJ gauge.

Thanks so much for your insight. I can't believe that I didn't think of that. It would make much more sence for me to get a sending unit for a YJ, with carbaration. And I will just get an aftermarket fuel guage that reads the same resistance as the stock YJ...
I have been going back and forth on this issue for probably two weeks. And it seriously sliped my mind that a YJ came with a stock pick up wihtout a pump. I guess that is why it is so good to bounce ideas off other people.

I have a CJ dash in my YJ and the YJ fuel sender makes the fuel gauge read backwards.

I have been looking for an adapter for the CJ sender unit for my tank. Does anyone know of a source for such a thing or have an idea of how to make one.
