I cant get the darn fuel lines of the filter no matter how much i twist it, push in and out like the haynes manual says. Any suggestions?

You need a special tool. Go ask any parts house.

Garter spring

You need a garter spring tool set - CarQuest sells the plastic Lisle set for less than $10, but there are also scissor-type metal ones.

If you've bunged up the springs, you may have to dig them out with a hooked pick, straighten them, and then put them back before you reconnect the fittings.

my 90 had the duck clips i think there called

you don t wanna re-use them my new filter came with new clips--popped them out with a screw-driver

Yep, just like Shilo/Steve say, special tool. I have a cheapy plastic lisle one I have used for years. slides right in to allow the fuel lines to pull off. Don't try pulling anymore. If you do manage to get one off, it will probably spray fuel everywhere, and won't seal properly when put back on. Just go ask for the tool.

Just did mine the other day, Got a special plastic tool from Napa, says for fuel and air conditioner lines and there is about 6 sizes. Slipped the tool into the conn. and pulled the filter off, just lift the fuel lines up a bit to keep gas from leaking. Easy, took 5-10 mins.
