"104 " octane booster does in fact work, I used to have to use it on top of premium fuel in my wife's '69 Bonneville convertible (428 engine) to prevent severe pinging. I don't remember more than one version, we sold the car 10 years ago (I didn't want to replace a head gasket again and two kids from Brooklyn snapped it up). However, EVERY other so-called "octane booster" I tried did absolutely nothing. There is (or was) another called "real lead" which also supposedly works (not compatible with catalytic converters!), but I never tried it.
