I am not real happy paying these high dollars in fuel prices , I want to pay more!!!!! hahaha What is a good fuel additive that will increase octane, while adding a lead substitute? As of now, South Carolina has no emissions testing (lucky me), so brand is not real important just looking for the best for my 401. I do have the high compression heads ( 51cc)and figure 10.5:1 ratio. Is that 104 just good advertising? or does it really work? If it is good, which is better black or red ? ( What is the diff) Thanks again for the invaluable help...seeya...

I don't know the answers to your questions...but while everyone is looking in on it......does anyone know what the tollerance is for the contemporary fuel system (late model -99,etc.) for alcohol? .......and what is the tollerance for ethanol versus methanol.....versus isopropal?......% wise ....without the addition of (unknown to me) "co-solvents" to prevent the degradation of the aluminum (and probably other) fuel sytem parts?

"104 " octane booster does in fact work, I used to have to use it on top of premium fuel in my wife's '69 Bonneville convertible (428 engine) to prevent severe pinging. I don't remember more than one version, we sold the car 10 years ago (I didn't want to replace a head gasket again and two kids from Brooklyn snapped it up). However, EVERY other so-called "octane booster" I tried did absolutely nothing. There is (or was) another called "real lead" which also supposedly works (not compatible with catalytic converters!), but I never tried it.

I ran the 108 in my bike once, and yea, it works. But we're talking apples and oranges. The bike had a 750 cc, liquid cooled, 3 cylinder, 2 cycle motor with a voracious powerband around 7K. If you think about it though, by the time you spend the extra $$$ for the boost, you probably could have thrown in the 93 (or 95) octane and accomplished the same thing.
