I have a 97 cherokee that I just purchased. Jeep had been sitting for several months. I noticed that when i barely push on the brakes the fronts tend to LOCK UP very easily. Anyone know what could be causing this problem? Is it a CPU problem with the ABS?

Are you sure it even has ABS? Whats weird is Jeep didn't have ABS standard on any of the years it was available. It could be the proportioning valve, air in the line, calipers sticking, bad pads. If you do have ABS it could be a bad controller or pump, etc

So today I replaced the calipers, pads, and rotors, still have the same problem. Although I have noticed that it only tends to do it for the first five or so mins of driving it, then the lock up problem stops. Its very strange I have never had any Jeep I have ever owned do anything like this before. Anyone know how hard it is to change a proportioning valve.

It's rather easy, just some work. It's the thingy under the reservoir with all the lines on it. Just take a good look or make a good picture how everything is hooked up.
