I am considering the purchase of a 87 Pathfinder and I have a couple of questions for the experts:

Can they be flat towed using a towbar?

Do any modifications have to be made for flat towing?

What is the acual weight of a two door Pathfinder w/V6 and 5 speed?

Thanks for the help!

Well as far as flat towing I think as long as it is a manual I don't think you will have
any provblems. yet I'm no expert as for I dont know the weight of it but If it helps
I towwed my truck home from farmington new mexico with a 95 ford power
stroke truck (one of my work trucks) to denver and had no problems except
the ford sucked diesel like there was no tommarow.

If your not wasted then the day is wasted

Technically they both shouldn't be flat-towed, but if you had to, then yes the manual's are a little better suited for it.

I could not find anything about the actual weight, but as far as towing... From the owners manual it says less than 30 MPH and less than 40 miles distance. It does not specify auto or manual trans. It continues to say that if speed and distance must be greater, then remove the front and rear propeller shafts to prevent damage to the transmission. (owners manual from a 1988 pathfinder)

Finally found it again!

Nissan does not recommend flat-towing its 4x4s, but if necessary the ignition should be in unlocked "off" position with hubs in Free position, and transmission and transfer case in Neutral. Auto trans models should not be flat-towed farther than 40 miles (30 mph max speed); manual trans models should not be flat-towed more than 500 miles (50 mph max). If greater speeds or distances are necessary, disconnect the front and rear propeller shafts begore hand to prevent damage to the transmission. Never flat-tow the vehicle from the rear.
