I am wanting to put on some sort of flair on the back fender opening of my 72, I was wondering if any of you had any ideas. I just don't want it to look like I just cut it off with a sawzall as it will be my daily driver and snow bomber. So I want it to look as good as possable.

TJ flares or flares from a Scrambler. We are putting TJ flares on my son's 73 and I have Scrambler flares on mine 70. Get the sawzall ready.....

I used a set of free (is there any better kind?

) YJ flares. I had already sawzalled the openings to remove ALL the stock "flare" (just shy of the flat side). All that had to be trimmed after that was a thin half-moon for the very top/center of the wheelwell. I would have mounted them lower if I hadn't done the earlier trim...

FWIW, I think Drayson used the same flares on his...

Thanks guys it sounds lide I can use any flair pretty easy. I thought that was probably the case but thought I would ask (cant hurt right?) One other question is there any diffrence between a cj flair and a scrambler one?

CJ flares have a round shape....Scrambler, YJ & TJ flares have similar shapes that are more squared...flatter at the top. The TJ flare will involve more cutting and have a substantially larger opening than the other 2. HTH..

Jim makes pretty good flairs, but the fit is not as good as the origninals that Jeep made. You can easily fit a large tire and have plenty of flex, the only downside is splintering the crap out of them when they scrape on the rocks.

If your wheelwells are already cut and you run a large tire, I would recommend them.
