HEY HEY TODD good to see back on here again! Even better to see some destruction in the name of progress!! Does your AC work ok? I'm just asking because those lines look pretty rusty in the pic, mine were the same way and had pinhole leaks in them right where it makes that bend out of the header panel. Is that trans cooler factory??? I've never really seen one before, cool!

#3 ·
Same here was starting to think you fell off the egde of the world. So what all are you going to be doing to the XJ?
I dig the Neverstart MAXX batt...

AJ that looks like the factory trans cooler, they are onl;y a few rows tall...andy

I didnt think that was a factory tranny cooler, my bros got the same thing in his 88, i didnt look to see where the lines went but the tranny lines went into the radiator so i thought that it just might be a factory oil cooler, ill have to look at his again to see

I thought that was the tranny cooler??? I was gonna go get a new bigger one, now you guys have me worried!

What am I doing to it? Rippin the bitch apart and re-doing EVERYTHING> AJ knows the scoop since his bumpers are a large part of it. The e-mail I sent him with the list of crap I wanna do was wicked long, and I can't find it. So take my word for it, A TON OF CRAP!

Don't worry I'll be on a lot. I have some questions brewing!

What do you guys think of Nissan Xterra Atomic Orange? =)

Have fun,

Todd

Yeppers, just got it yesterday. It's an '86, one year newer then my old POS GTI. It's real cherry on the outside and very close to being on the inside. I had to cut into my Sturgis fund but I have the lil GTI for sale(everythings forsale for the right price but the BelAir and the Healy). That thing runs so much harder then my 85 did even after a bunch of crap I did to it....Ok done with highjacking the thread...lol...

I'm so sick of this week, cant wait till it's over...andy

OK OK

, I'll tell ya what I'm doing. Here is the long winded e-mail explaning my diabolical plan:

AJ,

OH baby! that is sounding good man. When I do decide to go there will not be any rush on these AT ALL, so you don't need to kill yourself, and if you infact have people that need a rush, do them 1st. I wish I had some pics for you, but honestly they would look the same! I haven't touched it yet. Oh well, Hopefully I can get it done in just a few months. Frankly I frigin hate working when it is this cold out, drives me nuts. I have a lot to do to it, but I'm pretty sure that 3-4 nights a week for a couple months will get it done. After this purchase from you I need the 8.8, I have to get that installed. Also get the 4:10's in the 30 installed and truss the hell out of it (anything you've though of making? I have extra diff covers if you need a guinea pig =)

I'm leaving the D30 open, and just keeping the factory ford locker in the rear for the time being. I also need to get the Bushwacker flares, which should be cheap now since Quadratec is one of my big customers at work, I talk to the IT manager and President all the time (did you know they own Savanna Jones, and Acme Truck Parts?) So he (Doug) said that I would get a real good deal on anything that I needed. What else......oh ya, busy work. I'm gonna re-wire the thing, everything that I have F'ed with to try and get ride of that power drain, also make a dual batt setup. UM.....Oh ya, I'm gonna get those hood scoops from JC Whitney, the 2 piece kinda like a tear drop ones, so they can go on each side of the center rift going down out hoods. Make a cold air with the D-side, and just air inlet with the P-side. They are actually non-functional, but I figure I can dremel off the blockage...

Oh ya, and tires are still a HUGE question in my mind. If you saw my JU post I'm looking to still have a nice even stance with the tires maybe sticking out 1/2" beyond the bushwacker flares. I would like LTB 34x10.5" but I'm really unsure of the backspacing on the rims that I'll get. Oh and EVERYTHING is going to be black this time. I'm hating chrome lately, so the Jeep is going to be orange and everything else black. Oh....and the interior, I'm sick of tan, so I am changing it over to gray, with black leather. I found an 88 limited with all the fixings for $200, complete and running. It also has a D44 and 242 t-case, which will yield me the cost of the Jeep and then some. I Just can't get it till the snow is gone, so I'll rip out the interior less the D-side seat and just throw the rest of the gray in later. I'm also getting new doors. I know, I know, the whole no doors thing was great, but I really am a believer of the F'ing up the unibody theory after having tried it. I forgot your take, whatever it was I'm sure it was intelligently derived, but some of these **** on JU with BB's and 31's that have never tried it (or anything for that matter) saying that I'm a retard and it should be fine, should be shot!

I got off course, back to your bumpers, the front sounds exactly like what I was after, that way I can stand on it if need be. The prices sound great, especially with the hitches, that saves $200 when you think about it, hopefully the rear will be as good as a class 3 (have you tested it)

Damn, this e-mail got long! Anyway man, looking forward to it, and I will get pics when I get started!

Hey butcher, who wants windows and which ones? My brother is selling me his XJ for a parts jeep since he's crashed it and blew the transfer case. I will be parting it out in a month or so and could hook someone up cheap. I'll also have a good working 5 speed out of same if anybody would be interested. Not sure which it is but it would be fairly cheap. I am keeping the engine and front and rear axle assemblies, so don't ask.

lol no i dont need any windows besides my windshield now, i took them all out. im gonna just make canvas doors to button to the side of my jeep, same for the rear windows and hatch

Ok wake me up when the e-mail is done...lol...Man I thought my e-mails to AJ where long. Sounds like you got some big things plained out for the XJ. I agree with you on the ppl with BBs&31s talking smack about no doors, I myself will be running no doors but only after a few 'things' are added to the out side and inside to counter act the doors being off, plus having tube doors made up to help a lil too. I really dig the orange/black/grey idea, thats a great combo. For me after all is done with paint and body work(yes it's odd to fix the body just to dent it all up again but thats me) It will look just like it rolled out of the factory with all the stuff I have on it, trim/TJ flares/bumpers painted Larado grey(more like hamered silver) and all but the rain gutters strips will still be the chrome(driver side rain gutter strip is in the woods somewhere and the other is starting to come off, plus with the roof rack mounts they would get in the way, 4mounts per side plus mounts to ty into inside 6point cage)...But before all that happens I need to get my front leaf spring bolts out, man was I way off in thinking on them being like other uni-frame weld nuts...andy
