Can you post a picture of them on your Samurai? The picture they have is kind of dark and hard to see. I have been toying with the idea of casting molds off of my stock Samurai fender flares and then making a custom set of wider flares out of fiberglass.

I agree, Although that is a killer price, They look like about stock as far as the addition of flares.

Hi guys,

I remember reading in this site some time ago that lawn edging could be used to extend the fenders and if I am not wrong it was going at $5 for 20 feet at your local supermarket or supplies store. you have to cut to length 'tho. Wish we had this in Malaysia.

I was wondering if he had any pictures because it is hard to see any details in the picture. They almost look like a single layer piece of ABS material, kind of like Bushwacker extended flares or lawn edging. I was wondering if they hold their shape after you have been 4-wheeling in mud. Other wise they are a great deal.

I emailed tops4less.com and asked them how much flare over stock was theirs and his reponse was as follows.

The flares come out 3" from the body panel. I am unsure how much the factory flares cover.

If you have any further questions I can help with feel free to email me.

Best regards,

zoomy4: Ya, if I recall correctly, you said yours were on Michlin casings. I still have one more place to check out before making the order. Medford, OR Costco 40 miles north of me supposedly has very good prices on tire. Hi-Tec quoted me about $271 for a set of 5 30-9.50 including shipping. Then I would have to pay for mounting and balancing. That would bring it up to $300. Costco may be able to do better.

But then if I spend the money on an extended range gas tank I will have to wait on the tires. And then there is that GRS I that I want. If I bought the GRS I, I would need a skid plate to protect it. So many things to buy and so little money. And my wife still expects to get her share of my paycheck too.

These are photos of Calmini's fender flares. they are of excellent quality, not brittle, I believe they will stand up to some impacts. They extend out from the body about 4-1/2 inches. Even at 4-1/2 inches note that I still had to hang some mud flaps to keep mud off the body sides. I am well satisfied with the product.

You guys have finally inspired me to make my own widened Samurai flares. Tonight I took of my right rear flare off the new Zook and cast a mold of it. I popped the mold off and it looks pretty good.

Tomorrow I am going to prep it and make a fiberglass flare. This is not a production type mold and I hope not to break it while popping the fiberglass flare out. If it survives I can pop out a second one for the front left side since they are the same.

Once I have a fiberglass flare, I will section it in two and widen it about three inches. If all goes well, I should have one widened stock Samurai flare in a couple of days, hopefully two if the mold doesn't break.

I already have the fiberglass materials, mold materials were about $5.00 and only have about 15 minutes time in the project so far. Final finishing work is going to take the most time of all. If any of you were thinking about doing the same, unless you already have automotive body working skills I would not suggest it.

If my first flare turns out fine I will document the second one and post the pictures here.

Sorry about the late reply, I do not have a picture but I do have some measurements. I have another set of the tops4less flares not put on a vehicle and I have a set of the stock flares not put on a vehicle. I measured them this way. The Samurai stock flares measure about 2.5 inches wide from a wall. The tops4less flares measure around 3.8 inches wide from a wall.

Well my first mold did not hold up too well. I will make another one sometime in the future and post some pictures then. Just too busy to persue this right now. I am in the middle of moving back into my house since my renters bought a house of their own. As soon as I get my garage back I need to first tranplant another 1.3L and tranny into my zook.

3.8 inches of flare won't keep the mud off the side of your Zuk from the front tires. Even the Calmini 4.5 inch flare needs help with a mud flap. See my previous pic post.
