I was watching "For A Few Dollors More" the other night and sparked a conversation over what style of cowboy in the movies was a favorite.

I have always liked the Clint Eastwood movies myself.

I voted Clint Eastwood. Lee van Kleef is runner up. But as I hate to say it, Kevin Costner is the only one that really knows how to ride a horse....

Clint Eastwood takes the cake....I've been a big fan for years...

I love that part in "A Fistfull Of Dollars" where he's talking to the five guys about his mule needing an appology...hahahaha...

"Ya see, my mule, he don't like people laughing, gets the crazy idea they're laughing at him....now, if you all just appologize, like I know you're going to..."

Hahahahahahahaha/......I'll never get sick of that scene.

Cheers,

Rem.

I reckon so...

I voted Clint. Unforgiven and Outlaw Josey Wales are 2 of my favorite Clint movies. I do like the Sergio Leone flicks too. But some other "honorable mention" westerns:

High Noon - Gary Cooper
My Darling Clementine - Henry Fonda
Shane - Alan Ladd

And the Duke in The Cowboys and True Grit, great movies. Guess I'll be hitting the video store.

Had to vote for the Duke for obvious reasons, but Clint is definitely a very close second.

However my favorite western is Tombstone.

Re: I reckon so...

Is that the one with Kurt Russel as Wyat Earp? Or am I way off? From that version I like the scene were Wyat is threatened by someone with a revolver and he just takes it by the barrel and hits him on the head with the grip.

Re: I reckon so...

That sounds more like Tombstone to me than Open Range. Open range is about a couple or a small handful of free range cattle dudes who are taking a lot of crap from people in a town or something and they stand up to 'em...

Re: I reckon so...

Way better than the version with and Kevin Costner and Dennis Quaid...

I think Bad Girls is my choice #3. But that's mainly looks, to be honoust...

yea val kilmer as doc holliday was killer....

I also liked Tom Berringer in "Last of the Dogmen" more like a modern day cowboy....

Or Antonio Banderez as Zoro...

and who can forget Clint Eastwood as "The outlaw Josey Whales" That is my all time favorite western....

Re: I reckon so...

The Substitute is the Tom Berrenger movie you are thinking of. Treat Williams is now doing that role. Berrenger also did Rustlers Rhapsody. That was funny.

I placed Yul Brenner up on the list only because of two movies; West World and The Magnificent Seven. Anyone remember West World?
