what is the fastest STOCK dirt bike?

Anything with Jeremy McGrath on it ;)
That is a wide open question! Good grief!
Do you mean across an open desert? (BMW PtoK)
Endurance race like Baja? (XR650)
Through the trees? (KTM 350)
Over a GP track? (KX 500)
Around an MX track? (YZ 250)
Around an AX track? (YZ250)
Across a lake? Over the dunes? (CR500 with a paddle tire)
Up a hill? (A frame with a GS1100 motor and a very long swing arm)
Threw deep mud? (one of those goofy Yamaha fat tracks)
Can you narrow it down a little bit?
Just giving you a hard time, that was fun to think about though.
But in short I would say it depends on the rider. I think I would be very slow on an XR650, but I might do alright with an XR400, but I can't wait to see the new YZ250F.

yz 250 will take them both of the line though

No way your Deere goes 16! You're kidney's would be lying on the ground after the first pass through a hay field doing 16 mph on a tractor with no suspension. I give it 7 mph tops. BTW my 1984 Deere with 72' inch deck, 3 cylinder diesel will cut that field in half the time.

The fastest production motocross bike is no longer manufactured, but can be seen occaisonally at regional vintage mx races. Produced in Algeria in the late 1970's, the Ubestic TZA2300R had a three cylinder, four-cycle engine that was well ahead of its time. Ubestic's engineers borrowed from Russian tank engine technology which at the time was vastly superior to anything produced in the United States. Unfortunately, the sheer size of a 2300cc engine in an outdated motorcycle chasis kept the Ubestic from being widely accepted by motocross racers in Europe and the U.S. The enormous power output of the TZA2300R generated speeds in excess of 138 mph at the Bonneville salt flats in 1978, followed by a quarter-mile dragstrip run of 8.65 seconds at the now-defunct Route 69 Raceway near Stockland, Illinois. On the track, the Ubestic had some unusual handling characteristics, with the most intesting trait being what was called "Literal Engine Braking." The engine dwarfed the chassis and the cylinders protruded 14 inches from either side of the frame (some resemblence to older BMW's). When leaning the bike during cornering, the cylinders would dig into the ground and slow the bike, making brakes almost unecessary.

The TZA2300R never sold more than 5 units per year during its 3-year production run, so it remains one of the rarest motorcycles in the world. At this point there are only three known Ubestics in operation today, and seeing one on the track is a joy to behold.

i got my Husqvarna 610 up to 142 or 43. How did i check without a speedo? Well first i got as fast as i could then i shifted into neutral. Second i put my feet down as hard as i could and calculated the actual distance that i took me to come to a complete official AMA approved stop. Then i got in my 1993 Chevy 1/2 ton p/u and sped up to exactly 71.5 miles per hour. I then put the truck in neutral and stuck both feet out of the door (If trying this at home remember it must be the passenger door or calculations will be off). I then measured the distance that it took me to come to a complete (AMA approved once again) stop. I then added these 2 numbers and divided them by the Gross National Product of Barundi (any small 3rd world country will do). The only variables in this equation would be the tire pressure and surface temperature. Oh did i forget to tell you that my Husky has a blown alcohol 454. And yes its tough to balance that bike.

Hard to say which bike who is fastest...
I have one of these Yz 490 from ´84, with a 15 sprocket in front and a 45 rear sprocket... THAT makes it go fast!
It went over 90mp/h, and that was immediate....
Very hard acceleration. Also hard to drive in the woods but no other bike could touch it on the straights.... Of course there are faster bikes but, what good does that extra mp/h in the woods?

Hmmm. I came up with an equation for 4 wheelers. Here it goes.
a2 - 2ab + b2
a - b
___________
a3 - 2a2b + ab2
- a2b + a2b2 - b3
________________
a3 - 3a2b2 + 3ab2 - b3

Which basically requires you to multiply the weight of your 4wheeler times the required stopping distance and also to use the DRIVERS side door of the vehicle which after much study I have found that the vehicle does NOT have to be a 1993 Chevy 1/2 ton. It can be just about any vehicle if you use the quadratic equation for the vehicles towing capacity. Or A2 in the above formula. Good luck and keep those bikes above 134 MPH!!!!

Hey 98 Warrior...careful with the MetallicA quotes...you may have Lars Ulrich drawing up charges on you /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif My ATC 110 did a mind bending 135 mph down hill (in high range), with a tail wind, tied to the hitch on a monster truck with an alcohol fired Allison engine out of an F4U Corsair that we found in the jungle on vacation in Hawaii.
