I have an XL 125 that I've owned for 33 years. It's not frozen. I had it running 3-4 years ago. It was modified with knobby tires, Hooker Header down pipe, and several other aftermarket items. I probably still have most of the stock parts except the tires. The rims and front forks have mostly surface rust but no solid rust. If it ran, approximately how much is it worth with the added stock parts? Any input would be appreciated.

The bike ran, not well but it ran. The only original parts missing were two rear turn signals. The tank and seat were in perfect condition, no dents or tears. Several cables, grips, bulbs, one mirror needed replacing. Tires good. The exhaust was pretty dented and I still have some work on it. The frame had some rust - had it shot blasted and powder coated...well worth it.

Compression and internal parts were fairly good except points had gotten wet and I replaced. I used only the timing marks to reset and hit it perfectly the first time - spools up to 6k rpm then will idle down to a sweet 1900. Be aware, the phillip head screws used on the engine are very soft. Used impact driver successfully, for most part.

After this project, I'm a firm believer in Honda's manufacturing skill. Tight tolerances where needed, slop where it's a benefit.

Kedwards, thanks for the info and the youtube link. Your bike is in fantastic condition for a 1975. Mine on the other hand has seen many years outside under a tarp in humid FL so it's loaded with surface rust. The XL was a joy dirt riding in the GA mountains and at Daytona on the infield. Awesome job.
