Factory limited slip question

How can I determine if my buddies zuk came with limited slip? He said it was open diff but when we were wheeling I could sware that he was getting posi. Thanks for the help.

I think if you throw a jack under the diff and put your rig in neutral then spin a tire with your hand if the other one goes the opposite direction it's stock if it spins the same direction you have the factory limited slip. Not sure on this but someone out there will make a correction if I'm out to lunch

Thanks man I've been spinning rear ends of Sammy's for close to ten years in wreckers not knowing for sure if what I was doing was the way to find that TRACTION DEVISE now I know to keep spinning !

I didn't realize the limited slip was an option. Please tell me what years it came in and I'll poke around the junkyard looking for one. I'd like to put one on the rear.

I don't think limited slip was ever offered in a Samurai, so if he does have one than it is aftermarket, also I have seen Samurai's with the spider gears broke or scratched up and it appears that they have posi because the gears turn so hard that it acts like a limited slip!
