I am running a 5 inch SPOA, and a YJ spring conversion. On the rear, there is too much drivline U-joint angle and I get really bad vibration under load. I realize that I need a traction bar, though that wont fix the angles. The front has EXTREME U-joint angles. I would like to keep the factory castor angle, but I have the U-joint problem. The driveline also hits the crossmember, but I am going to just cut that down. Also, I have already shaved the U-joint on the front as far as possible, and it still binds!

HELP!!! What do you guys with your extreme angles do!!

Thanks for the help,
Stefan

On the rear after my YJ swap, I had a friend mill some 7 degree shims to get the angle back, then he built me a traction bar to hold everything in place. On the front I had your same problem before the YJs. Instead of cutting the crossmember and still having the bad u-joint angles I got a Trail Tough birfeild front shaft with a 2" extended slip yoke. The birfeild doesn't bind at extreme angles and the diameter of the shaft was half of a stocker(tube vs solid stock) which solved the crossmember problem. I don't know if TT still makes the birfeild shaft but it wasn't a cheap fix the shaft and 2" slip yoke set me back $400.

Do you have room to move the axles further out? this would ease the angles a bit.

For the rear rockrat has the toy DS adaptors and the toy is a cardan unit. you point the pinion at the
Xfer U joint and the double U joints take care of the angle and vibes.

On tthe front try reversing the driveshaft end for end. one end has more clearance for the crossmember.

mine doesnt hit I have a stock front driveline sort of (1 inch spacer on t case and 2 inch extended slip yoke) the spacer helps with crossmember clearance the slip yoke makes it worse because it has a sleeve welded to it to extend the yoke making it even closer to the crossmember I dont hit but I come realy close I did add some washers underneath the long arm mounts to raise the t case slightly about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch (on mine I could go as much as 3/4 of an inch)
