It did it for a day or so like 2 weeks ago and quit, and it is now back...... when im driving in any gear once i get around 2000 rpm the engine just kinda cuts off and has NO power, you have to floor it and it takes a few seconds but then the motor just "grabs" and takes off in full force...... it does it in every gear around 2000-3000 rpms.......... any ideas???????

I've had the same problem with an 88 stock carb.

I thought it was the "flat spot" everyone talks about.

Some day I will drop in a 1.6 with dual carbs and be done with it.

Check the EGR and other smog crap. Buy a can o whoopass -err carb cleaner and with an old toothbrush clean that rascal good. Oh, and my latest theory, check your oil level. I can almost bet you are two quarts low.

Its weird I had that also, never really looked into it though .. I just shut it off then re started it and it was fine .. and then 1 day it(as of now)never happened again .. I'm thinking it was something inside the carb, with one of the electrical connectors.

Well i figured id update you guys....... i took it to my friends dad who is a really BAD @$$ mechanic... knows his stuff really well..... he looked at it for like 15 minutes and thought that it was something with the fuel system, and said to try the fuel filer.......
I replaced the fuel filter.... no luck
i then replaced the fuel pump with a used on i had..... no luck

I then noticed that one you push on the carb it kinda leans and it looked like the bottom adapter plate for the weber wasnt sealing properly like the bolts had backed out...... so....... I stayed home from school and I have an extra intake manifold that I port matched to the weber, and removed the smog bump casting on the inside of each runner, and figured now was a good time to put it on...... I took the weber carb off, and the intake manifold off........ went and bought new gaskets etc......
Put on the ported intake manifold and put it all back together...... started right up and worked perfect all the way to work...... AND GOD DAMN THAT ZUK PULLS A LOT HARDER since i put on the ported intake, its amazing...... well on break when i was getting something to eat... IT DID IT AGAIN..... it starting cutting out and wanting to stall..... I did notice when i was taking it apart earlier today the vacuum line from the distributor thing to the intake manifold wasnt connected.... but i might have disconnected...... when i went to leave work, it ran perfect all the way home....... I dont get it.... then when i got it home i disconnected the vacuum line from the distrib. to the manifold and it didnt run good but didnt act like it was cutting out or anything..... i cant figure this out any ideas????????? its like its got a mind of its own

You have to seriously Lock-tite the bolts on those adapter plates . I wish they would tell you that on the install sheet . Inline 4's w/runner type manifolds have a bad habit of loosening the bolts pretty well. I have also had several do this, as well as rust up and stick the weights in the distributor.

Ya thats what my friend with a weber told me..... so i hooked the weber adapter plates up with the lock tite today........ the distributor looks brand new...... but who know replacement parts from autozone and places like that always seem to break!

sounds to me like the vacuum advance. I would check out the vacuum line to the distributor, maybe it's coming off if it isn't seated tightly. I never checked the dist. on my zuk but I know on my chevy's I had to replace the mechanical weights in the distributor because the teflon insulators wore through and caused me all kinds of problems. How much would a distributor cost? Might be worth trying if it isn't too much, and you can check on the stores return policy, they might let you return it if it isn't the problem.
