I have a Holley 4bbl carberator on my '80 CJ-7 with a 350 V-8. When I'm going steeply downhill, it dies, but runs fine going uphill. It will also die when going to quickly over medium sized rocks or REALLY rough dirt roads (my SOA is really flexy). What's the problem? How can I fix it?

About the only partial fix that I know of for a Holley is a off-road slaush tube setup. Holleys are famous for not doing well in steep terrain and bouncing over rocks. A Q-Jet can be set to run better but the MotorCraft 2150 2 barrel has by far worked the best for me in rockcrawling.
The Eldebrock Performer also offers a off-road kit for their carb which helps stop the problem you are getting with your Holley.
