I have the Weber 32/36 DGEV installed on my 258. I was looking down the venturi today and noticed that the jet on the outer barrel (towards the driver's fender) did not squirt when the throttle was engaged. That barrel is almost completely dry, while the other one squirts out plenty of fuel.
I just wanted to make sure that I had a clog and that it wasn't something to do with the secondary jets or something like that. Right now it looks like it's running like a 1bbl carb. Any help is appreciated.

the 2 bbl dgv on my mgb does the same thing, if you look closely youll see that the accelerator pump on that side is mising, and the boss fo rhte pump jet is just a blank boss.

Im not saying yours is like this, yours COULD likely be clogged, but I though thte same thing on mine until I looked closer, and compared it to eh other sides mechanism to squirt fuel.

I just took the air horn off and checked the jets and sure enough, the jet to the secondary is blank. I had never really looked down the barrels while it was running in the year that I've had the Weber installed. I guess it makes sense that it's the progressive secondary like Brad was saying, half a 4bbl.
I guess I screwed around with that pitiful BBD so long that I figured it was like a regular 2 bbl carb.

But, I re-tuned it today. Yesterday I found that my linkage wasn't allowing the secondary to open up completely. Fixed it and WOW, what a difference it makes. I thought it was my timing that was off. Runs great now.

Thanks for all of your help!

I floored the gas pedal (engine off of course) and checked to see if the linkage the same distance as when I cranked open the throttle by hand. Then I disconnected all of the linkage to see how far wide open throttle actually was. I reconnected the linkage back to the base level (with choke completely off) and made sure that it would go all the way back to that position as well. I actually ended up having to move one of the pivots on the piece that has multiple pivot holes.
Then I went back and floored the gas pedal again to make sure the secondary opened up all the way after all the adjustments. Hopefully it's not that confusing how I just explained it. It's pretty neat and now I have a tendency to mash the gas off the line now. I was probably getting 18mpg because I never achieved WOT. Oh well, it's a heck of a lot more fun now!
The next project is to get that fully rebuilt T-19 & Dana 20 along w/ the D44 & wide D30 out of my garage and on to the Jeep. Hopefully next month.

I can follow those instructions. I really never thought about do it before you mentioned it. I just made sure my throttle opened and snapped shut when released, when it was being installed. Thanks for the idea. Maybe I can eeck a little more performance out of mine.
